Coraopolis Local News, Commentary, and Discussions, from a Green Perspective
Welcome! My name is Garret, and I’ve been a resident of Coraopolis Borough, a small borough just outside of Pittsburgh with a population of around 6000 people, for about 10 years now. Coraopolis already has a lot going for it in terms of good people, interesting history, a small town culture and walkable downtown strip while still being near a major city! But there are also challenges, and I believe a Green political perspective is needed. This website and newsletter will help provide that Green perspective, so that we can work together and build an amazing place where folks want to live, play, work — all the good stuff in life!
This list will become a real newsletter for the region, discussing current events and politics from a Green perspective you likely won’t see from any other newsletter or newspaper. This include reporting from events like municipal or county government or school district meetings, which often need much more public discussion and transparency than what we get today. It will also include opinions and editorials, and general discussion about what the Green Party values and platform mean in practice for a small borough like ours.
Our local issues are tied deeply with many national and global issues, so while our work must start locally, we also need to keep an eye toward the bigger picture.
Even if you live outside the region, I hope you still might consider subscribing and following along! I’d like to hear your feedback and how your town might tackle similar challenges. Maybe we can inspire each other and our communities, and learn from one another.
I hope you’ll enjoy it! I welcome feedback on any article, as well as suggestions for future articles.
